In just three months of instruction, the incredible M-LISADA community in Uganda has achieved something truly inspiring. Their dedication and talent have blown us away, and we’re honored to have played a role in making this possible alongside our amazing partners, Austin Classical Guitar and Cálido Guitars.

The journey began in summer 2023 when we connected with M-LISADA, an orphanage system led by the visionary Mr. Bosco Segawa. He shared how deeply music and dance are woven into their community and dreamed of adding the guitar to their creative expression.

With support from FG4K and Cálido Guitars, Austin Classical Guitar generously sent 30 beautiful guitars and 60 sets of Augustine Strings to Uganda. After a long journey, the instruments finally arrived seven months later!

By June 2024, teacher training was underway. These teachers, former residents of M-LISADA themselves, are now giving back through the transformative power of music. In late August 2024, classes officially began—and the results are nothing short of magical.

We’d love for you to see this in action. In one video, a group of beginners plays alongside an instructor using a traditional Udungu harp. In another, older students perform a stunning rendition of “Lean On Me,” singing and playing their guitars together.

Moments like these are why we do what we do—helping kids unlock their potential and find joy through music.
